Labeling Basics for Private Label Products and Contract Manufacturers

Contract manufacturers and private label brands face a unique set of challenges when it comes to labels and packaging. Unlike standalone companies, contract manufacturers regularly work with a vast range of brands who all have different goals and expectations when it comes to the look of the final product. To maintain and grow business as a contract manufacturer, it is essential that the supplier recommendations contract manufacturers make to their clients meet and exceed the expectations of those clients.

Our team at Inovar Packaging Group has decades of experience providing superior quality labels and unparalleled customer service to our contract manufacturing partners and the brands they work with. In fact, we are a top-recommended label printer for large contract manufacturers in many industries, including OTC pharmaceuticals, supplements, and personal care. We know the ropes when it comes to providing contract manufacturers and their clients the services and support they need. Below are some of the ways we make labeling easy for contract manufacturers and private label brands.

WHAT WE DO FOR OUR CONTRACT MANUFACTURING PARTNERS

When you’re working with many different clients who all have different label artwork and expectations, it can be difficult to manage everything. We simplify the label ordering process by maintaining label standards on file. We go above and beyond what other label and packaging printers provide by maintaining common container sizes, tooling available for each container, approved material constructions and finishing details for all of the products you print with us. This expediates ordering and eases tension that can arise from differing expectations.

The level of our quality and service are not to be matched, which is why we verify proofs for each private label item to confirm graphics, icons, ingredients, and everything else is accurate for the product. Members of our outstanding Customer Support team will work directly with all referred clients through the label ordering process and ensure questions and final approvals go through you, the contract manufacturer.

WHAT WE DO FOR PRIVATE LABEL BRANDS REFERRED THROUGH CONTRACT MANUFACTURERS

Since we know how important the look and feel of the final product is to private label brands, our expert Prepress team will modify and adjust provided artwork to ensure the highest quality printing. If you’re struggling with label design, we can also recommend design firms upon request.

To make things as easy as possible for you, we have commonly used icons and logos available for you to add to your label design as required. A few examples of the logos we can provide include Cruelty Free, GMO Free, and Made in the USA, among many others.

Since we will have experience working directly with YOUR contract manufacturer, we can coordinate proper label sizes based on the container(s) you are using. For every standard sized container we have from the contract manufacturer, we can provide a template for artwork as well so there’s no guesswork when it comes to sizing your label appropriately. We also recommend the preferred material construction options that are pre-approved by Contract Manufacturer to ensure the proper application and functionality of your label.

INVENTORY MANAGEMENT

Unlike many other label printers, we assign a part number for every item. This number is included in our part number description, on each label roll, and on packing slips, which will be sent to the contract manufacturer for inventory and accuracy purposes. This helps avoid any inventory questions that may arise and can assist in simplifying re-orders in the future. We are also happy to direct-ship printed labels to the contract manufacturer for labeling and filling if requested.

Decades of experience have enabled us to become one of the top label printers in the country for contract manufacturers and private label brands, and we’d love to help give the amazing products you’re creating the labels they deserve. If you have any questions about our work with contract manufacturers and private label brands, contact us, and we’ll be happy to help!
