RFID Product Labels

Inovar proudly provides custom printed prime labels that contain embedded RFID tags meant for use, primarily, in retail inventory tracking. RFID allows for precise track-and-trace for real time data inventory. Retailers such as Walmart are rolling out national RFID initiatives to improve inventory accuracy, provide a better in-store shopping experience, and drive more accuracy to online and pick-up in-store capabilities. Select Inovar locations have become early adopters of the technology by using it for internal inventory tracking to increase efficiency.

The team of RFID experts at Inovar can help you with your RFID project each step of the way including identifying the appropriate tag for the project scope, submitting for approval with the Auburn RFID Lab, and providing tag samples for testing.

FAQ’s About RFID

What is the process and lead time for tag approval?

Engage with your Inovar representative on the project scope and appropriate tags. Tagged samples will be provided to the Auburn RFID Lab for approval. Lead time is about 3 weeks.

How much should I expect to pay for tag samples?

Tag samples are provided to Inovar customers at no cost. Customers can expect 5-10 tags or paper faced samples to be provided for the application. Samples are printed with the EPC logo and UPC number per the approval requirements.

What type of RFID tags does Inovar provide?

Inovar follows standards required for ARC approved which is currently Gen2 Ultra-High Frequency RFID inlays. The ARC program is to ensure that RFID tags are able to meet or exceed the levels of performance and quality necessary to provide benefit to the end user in a consistent and cost-effective manner.

Can RFID tags go on any consumer product?

Special considerations should be made for metal containers or containers filled with water based liquid that will interfere with an RFID tag. If these container types are being used a cap label or hang tag containing the RFID tag would be suggested.

Are there label size minimums when using RFID?

Small size tags less than 1.5” square are not common in the UHF frequency range as the label is constrained by the antenna size required to function properly.
