Meet the Team: Howard Ung – Labeling Equipment Sales Specialist at Inovar Packaging Group

Howard joined Inovar Packaging Group eight months ago as the Labeling Equipment Sales Specialist, succeeding Jim Stiles after his retirement. In his role, Howard specializes in helping customers address their label application needs and enjoys seeing the equipment in action at their facilities.

Howard finds great satisfaction in building relationships with customers and solving their challenges. “I enjoy helping customers solve their label application needs and then seeing our equipment in action,” he shares. One of Howard’s most memorable experiences was a service call to the U.S. Mint in West Point. “The security process to get in was fascinating and seeing how the silver and gold coins are minted was unforgettable”.

Since Inovar’s acquisition of the Kennedy Group, Howard hasn’t yet had the opportunity to fully experience the company culture beyond introductory meetings. However, he looks forward to exploring Inovar’s collaborative and customer-focused environment.

Howard’s approach to problem-solving is rooted in working smarter, not harder. “Listening to truly understand the problem is key to finding the right solution”. Documentation is also critical for Howard, as it helps establish best practices and ensures consistency.

Howard’s first job as a golf caddy at a private members-only club taught him valuable lessons in relationship-building and the rewards of hard work—skills he applies to his professional life today.

If given the chance to switch jobs for a day, Howard would love to step into the shoes of Warren Buffett. “I’d love to understand how his mind works to grow Berkshire Hathaway and how he maintains a frugal lifestyle as a billionaire”. A fun fact about Howard is that he’s a DIY enthusiast who firmly believes in sweat equity when it comes to maintaining and improving his home. On his days off, he enjoys binge-watching Netflix or Prime with a cold drink and some great takeout. If he could have dinner with any historical figure, Howard would choose John D. Rockefeller, admiring his ability to build an empire while staying connected to his roots and giving back to the needy.

Howard’s expertise in labeling machinery, passion for building strong customer relationships, and commitment to solving challenges make him an invaluable addition to the Inovar team.
